3 ways you can join Garden Re-leaf Day

Greenfingers Charity Garden Re-Leaf Day is a popular event which is held annually and helps to raise much-needed funds to transform the lives of children spending time in hospices across the country. The magical gardens created at these hospices bring much-needed respite and joy to children and their families lives. This year is the eighth Garden Re-Leaf Day on Friday 22nd March 2019 and there are many ways you can get involved from organising walks, cycling challenges along with quiz nights, raffles and cake sales. Here are a few ideas:

1. Get on your bike for Garden Re-Leaf Day

One of the main challenges for Garden Re-Leaf Day is cycling. You could enjoy a cycle ride around your own county with friends, or even join a cycling club to encourage everyone to ride for sponsorship. It's a great way to get active, spread the word about the charity and raise some money.

2. Put your walking boots on for Garden Re-Leaf Day

If cycling isn't your thing, why not organise a ramble or long walk or even climb a mountain! The benefit of walking is so many people enjoy it and you get to take in the countryside or town while you do it. A group of people together walking can be very encouraging and especially if the walk is a long distance, sponsorship money can be raised. You could even put participants in groups and compete for the finishing line. No running allowed!

3. Hold an event night for Garden Re-Leaf Day

If the sporty side of you doesn't want to organise or take apart in a walk or cycle ride, there is still plenty you can do to help raise funds for the Greenfingers Charity. Why not organise an event night (or day) and invite your friends, family and colleagues to raise money while having some fun. From party games to auctions and a fun raffle with donated prizes you could even try a cake sale with prizes for the best cake. On top of all of that, it could even be done in fancy dress!

Since being founded in 2012, over £600,000 has been raised with over 100 people taking part last year in a cycle challenge in Buckinghamshire. Garden centres join in, plantations are arranged and even QVC take part in the sale of plants live on TV. If you would like to get involved, whether that's by holding your own events in your garden centre or at home, through to sponsored activities such as the ones above or by simply donating to the charity, contact the Greenfingers office on 01494 674749 or email linda@greenfngerscharity.org.uk.
